“Learning, enjoying, succeeding together”

Bearwood Primary and Nursery School strives to deliver a curriculum that inspires and challenges all learners, preparing them for the future. We encourage children of all abilities to ask questions, stay curious, and aim to reach their full potential.

We hold high expectations for our students, and our curriculum is structured to help each child achieve their best, fostering active engagement in their learning. A core aspect of our approach is ensuring that every child knows more and remembers more, so our curriculum is intentionally designed to support this. Subjects are thoughtfully sequenced and progressively build on prior learning.

Every moment of the school day matters. Our curriculum is rich in knowledge and serves as the foundation for developing respectful, curious, and critical thinkers who have a lifelong passion for learning.

At Bearwood Primary and Nursery School, the curriculum is designed to help each child realize their full potential while equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate the world. It is engaging, diverse, and progressive, offering a wide range of enriching activities.

Our children have the chance to take part in a variety of additional curriculum experiences such as sporting and musical events in the local community and with other schools. It fulfils the requirements of the National Curriculum through carefully sequenced learning, with a clear progression of knowledge from Early Years to Year Six. Every subject has specific learning goals (sticky knowledge) which children are expected to remember, and this is closely monitored and tracked to ensure attainment is at the highest level for each child. It is designed based on a spiral curriculum, allowing children to return to and build upon previous learning, applying substantive and disciplinary knowledge to new challenges.
